Rufaro Mboneli
She -Her
Rufaro Mboneli is a Zimbabwean born writer, who fell in love with the art of story telling in grade two. Tasked with her first writing project she chose to document the on goings in her vibrant childhood home, showing natural talent. With encouragement from her teacher she knew she loved writing but never thought of it as a career. She saw it as a way to explain the hardness of life that her young brain couldn’t quite articulate but given a pen, the words would flow from her heart.
In 1999 she moved to England, Essex and was thrusted into a new culture, environment. Taking it all in her stride she slowly but steadily understood the British culture without losing the origins of her identity. She experienced life changing and character building adult like experiences which further lit the torch to use writing as a coping mechanism. The youngest of two beloved brothers she was raised to be tough and resilient. Instead of tears she picked up a pen.
She went through life and reached all the important milestones. It wasn’t until 2011 when she was at Hertfordshire University Studying Psychology and Sport Studies that she arrived at the truth that writing was her dream. It wasn’t until 2020 when God called her to her purpose and she left her career in marketing and communications and returned to university at 30 years of age to study Creative and Professional writing. She thrived and her dream grew and she continued her studies and completed an MA in Directing for Stage and Screen.
Now graduated she is working with small businesses producing and directing their social media content and building marketing strategies whilst she pursues her dream to write in a variety of disciplines, poetry, film, articles and documentaries and to produce and direct her own films.
