He & Her

Her Name is Anna

His Name is Bekitemba

She would become the mother of his kids

He would be the one who brought her greatest joys and her deepest wounds

But she would still rejoice for the souls that were birthed

Without him there would be no them.

But what about him?

Where did he come from?

His father unknown,

A mother with a plethora of papa’s for his siblings,

all of them known, except for his.

He never knew love, not like her

She, the product of love, stability and community

Offered him the love she experienced

Fist closed tightly he couldn’t receive it

When his first and second was born

He didn’t know how, he did his best

What was love without pain to him?

Pain is love; his soul would cry out.

She advised and taught him

He couldn’t hear

He had to feel

The feeling came

It was a girl

Number 3 would always be his baby

Baby couldn’t be beaten

A pathway to expressing love opened

Inseparable they were

Baby and Father

A bond that could not be broken

Short lived

Baby saw his anger and its fruits

Baby’s heart blackened for her first love.

Baby disowned him in her heart

He was paralysed by the pain

His smile bright and beautiful just like hers

Not bright enough to hide the darkness

Loneliness was once again his portion

Separated from all his kids

He could kill for five minutes

They couldn’t face him

She, despite the pain by his hand

Encouraged them to give him a chance

She pushed them to him, with no avail.

Love to him was possessive

He found what he lacked in them

But his demons won

He was unfaithful to her

The boys knew but baby didn’t

Baby was devasted

Estrangement their over sang tune

His betrayal echoed through each soul

Then the secret came to light

There was a fourth

Love wasn’t openly given to her

The betrayal led the charge in their hearts

Confrontation eventually came

Baby was not satisfied with his reasons

Adulting arrived for the three

Distance grew larger

But with her, love continued with her three

Bonding and closeness resounded

She enjoys her grandchildren

They don’t even know his name

Hers begun and ended with love

His began and ended with loneliness

Her name is Anna

His Name is Bekitemba
