Cancel Culture

Logline - After a viral video falsely brands him an abuser, a rising entrepreneur races to clear his name and protect his son, while the internet turns his life into a public trial with no interest in the truth.

Cancel Culture is a grounded, character-driven drama that interrogates the power and danger of public perception in the digital age. The story follows Nehemiah, a Black entrepreneur preparing to launch his barbershop, whose life is upended after a domestic incident involving his partner Abigail, a Jewish woman struggling with severe mental health challenges.

When a confrontation between Nehemiah and his son’s teacher, Mrs Haggai, is filmed and shared online, a false narrative begins to take shape—casting him as an abuser. As the video spreads, Nehemiah faces swift and unforgiving consequences: his business prospects collapse, including the withdrawal of investor Seth Morgan, and his community turns against him.

Caught in the middle is his young son, Blessing, whose loyalty and innocence are tested as social services, led by Amy Clint, intervene to assess his safety. Forced to recount the truth, Nehemiah reveals the reality behind the incident—Abigail’s mental health crisis and his attempt to protect his child—challenging the assumptions that have already defined him.

Blending intimate family drama with wider social commentary, Cancel Culture examines how quickly truth can be distorted, how bias shapes belief, and how difficult it is to reclaim your identity once the world has decided who you are.
